Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information JyotishRoots collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights you have. It is written in plain language; if anything is unclear, write to us at support@jyotishroots.com. This policy is available in Hindi, Gujarati or any other language listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India on request.
Who We Are
JyotishRoots (jyotishroots.com) is operated by Germinate Consultants FZE LLC, United Arab Emirates ("we", "us"). We decide how your personal information is used and are responsible for it. We aim to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules, and the UAE's Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021).
What We Collect

We do not knowingly collect information we don't need, we don't run advertising, and we don't build marketing profiles.
Who We Share It With
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the site for us, and only as much as each needs:
- Render: hosts the website and its database.
- Resend: sends our emails (verification and research invitations), so it receives the address and the email's content.
- Google: handles "Continue with Google" if you use it. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers and they see your IP address.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): used only when a typed place is not in our built-in place list, to turn it into coordinates; it then receives the place being looked up. Town and city search otherwise runs on our own server, using place data from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0).
- Cloudflare: delivers the website, and its Turnstile check on the sign-up page confirms that a person, not a bot, is creating the account; it receives your IP address and basic browser information for that.
- UptimeRobot: checks that the site is online. It does not receive your personal information.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, for example to a court or regulator.
Where It Is Stored
These providers may store or process information on servers outside India or the UAE. We use only reputable providers and share the minimum needed.
How Long We Keep It
- Your account and saved charts: while your account exists. Saved charts can't be deleted from a normal account (because of the saved-chart limits), but we will delete your account and its charts if you ask. An email address may be kept on a blocked list to prevent misuse.
- Chart logs (IP address and time): while they are needed to prevent misuse and enforce limits.
- Research information: as set out in the research consent form. Your research consent record is kept permanently as proof of consent; your birth details and interview answers are erased if you withdraw.
How We Protect It
The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords are stored only as hashes, and only JyotishRoots administrators can see account and research information. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting you ever happens, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
Your Rights and Choices
- See and correct the information we hold about you. Some chart details can be corrected once from the chart page; for anything else, write to us.
- Erase your information, or close your account.
- Withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it. For research, use the "Withdraw my consent" button. Withdrawing doesn't affect what was done lawfully before.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity.
- Complain: contact us first; you can also complain to the Data Protection Board of India, or in the UAE to the UAE Data Office.
We acknowledge requests within 7 days and aim to complete them within 30 days.
Children
JyotishRoots is meant for adults. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must create and manage the account. Research participants must be 18 or over.
Cookies and Storage on Your Device
- One essential cookie keeps you logged in. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
- The site can work as an app on your phone; to help it open without a connection, your device may keep copies of pages you visited.
- A few display preferences (for example, layout choices in admin tools) are remembered in your browser.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you on the site or by email.
